Introduction

Artificial Intelligence (AI) holds immense potential to transform industries, drive efficiency, and enhance decision-making capabilities. However, its deployment also introduces significant risks, including bias, opacity, and unintended consequences that can erode trust. In high-trust environments—where business operations, financial transactions, and human interactions rely on confidence, safety, and integrity—AI must be governed by structured controls that reinforce accountability while allowing innovation to thrive.

Leaving AI’s trajectory to unregulated market forces is akin to giving a toddler a chainsaw—dangerous and potentially disastrous. Organizations must adopt a balanced approach that integrates transparency, responsible oversight, and human intervention to harness AI's benefits while mitigating its risks. This paper proposes three pragmatic mechanisms for embedding trust in AI systems: Mandatory AI Nutrition Labels, AI Trust Scores, and Human Override by Default.
